To be clear:
I fully support going to the customer communities and say that we need
to show a public record of how they arrived at their responses and ask
them to give us *pointers* to their public records that we can include
in our deliverable. We can provide a rationale for it as summarised by
Alissa's slide about "public record".
I do *not* support and strongly warn against going to the customer
communities with the question: "What alternatives have you considered?"
